Ya thats a beauty of a fish, not many caught that big around here. Pictures look like he is at salt creek/whiskey creek area one of the more common anchor areas for the butt fishing.

Thats what the location looked like to me. I've fished whiskey Creek a few times. Maybe Jim Creek? I've never tried anchoring for Halibut. I have the gear, the float, 300 ft of line etc. They must anchor up in fairly shallow water, 150 -200 feet maybe?

You guys are both wrong, i watched the boat leave as we pulled in there, it isn't know damn secret! ITS BETTER TO BE LUCKY THAN TO BE GOOD! Whiskey creek is out of bounds anyways so careful assuming!
