Cheetos for protection!! new
      #33775 - 08/21/01 02:16 PM

I just watched a show on increasing the Ridley turtle populations. One of the techniques they used to keep the gulls away from the turtles as they went to sea was to feed them cheetos and draw them away. If you have ever seen the gulls work the fish as they try to get past the estuary you know what a interesting idea this is. On endangered runs we could hire hat wearing cheeto chuckers. Its been working great for getting the ridleys out to sea safely. Wonder if we can get funding for this one.

Marty, the way our government works, it's a sure bet! Only thing we have to do is come up with an outlandish proposal, complete with 6 figure salaries for the PM's (Project Managers) and a catchy job title, and we're in! We could call it "The Study For Enhancing Juvenile Salmonid Survival Statistics by Sating Predatorial Seabird Appetites Analysis Project" (or TSFEJSSSSPSAAP, for short) Heh. Remember Ed Zern and the MARGBMALRBA?

It's a great idea but you would have to hand pick the cheetos chuckers. I wouldn't make the team because I would eat the whole bag before I got to the estuary.

Unless, of course you would use the "puffy" cheetos in which case I would be all right. I prefer the crunchy style. I don't know about the gull's preference.

Hmmmmm...???

I think I saw someone feeding the ducks and g**** cheeto's at Green Lake in Seattle once when I visited there to appreciate the summer scenery.

I sure hope they weren't on hooks. [Eek!]

That would also get volunteers in a hurry. I would be the first to sign up. I am a Cheetos addict. [Frown] I have to have them on just about every fishing trip. [Confused] That is some powerful stuff. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
