Reel questionie
      #340782 - 07/21/08 06:34 PM

Need to pick up a decent downrigger rod/reel. Going to fish Vancouver Island later this month.

I've narrowed the reel down to a Shimano Tekota 600 per advise of my local fishing mentor. I've got a bunch of Shimano Convergence rods that I'm thinking about bringing. Decent rods for the money being as I already have them. Need a reel though.

Your thoughts ?

Whatever you get make sure it's designed for salt. I've seen many nice reels distroyed by salt. Tear down and washing them each time helps but in the long run it's better to buy a product designed to do the job.
