My Choc Lab at 13+ years is too old to hunt. I need a hunting dog this year, so I am next in line to pick up a field trials school drop-out. The dog will have all obedience and hunting skills, just not good enough to compete at the national field trial levels. I am already looking forward to having another dog and I don't know if it is male, female, black, chocolate or yellow. Can't wait. Bill

That is the absolute right way to do it BBob! Be prepared for the old dog to be extremely jealous, the bright side though is that the energy of the pup may pull another season from the old dog!

I'd pick a female as a male will hike the leg on everything and if you have kids there toys. WFFF
