It's that time again. I've been watching the dams. Numbers are looking hot! Does anyone have a recent report or tips for this time of year on the lower D? I'll fish it this saturday, hiking in from the mouth.
Thanks.

This is a bad weekend since the sleds are on the river this weekend. There is a pass-through area for the boats up to Rattlesnake so you can fish it without any competition from the sleds, however it is close enough to the mouth that there are a lot of hikers going up and you will be competing with them. I won't fish it again until next Thursday when the sleds are off and the weekenders aren't there. Then you can walk up about as far as you wish and fish without having to bring your own rock. Have you looked at going in on the Freebridge Road? I haven't been on it in a few years, but on sled-free weekends, that can be good.

Fished it last weekend. Caught one half-pounder. Thats all. Saw only 2 other fish landed. Slow, but a good trip.

Made the usual 5 mile hike in from the mouth to our favorite holes. Did not do very well at all. A little frustrating. On the hike out we saw guys hitting fish like crazy in the last 1/4 mile of the river. I guess we could have skipped the hike. Saw a guy who had a 38 inch B run live on a stringer. Never seen a steelhead that big. The thing was a beast.

You fishing from the bank? Regardless, I think I am fishing with the wrong guys. Think I am going to go again on Sat. Going to stick around the mouth this time. We'll see. Corkies may be my go-to this time around. Thanks for the tip.

Jake, shoot me a p.m. & i will give u a phone #, if u need some advice on the lower river. It realy isnt that diffacult. Just pitch your stuff in the lanes where the fish travel. If u dont pin your corkies, u might hook a few in the head. Anyhow, pretty easy fishin' when u are dialed in.

Nice carnage SFC
You have restored my faith in pink pearl, as I struck out with that color this summer. PP used to be #1 in my book, but it's still one of my most confident colors to throw.
