That is my trout rod. I caught this brown trout from the shore. My brother in law and I split up to find some other holes. I used my split grip rod to fish from the boat throwing big rapala's. I caught this one with grass hoppers that were all over the place. Drifting a grass hopper through the riffles was very effective. I'm waiting for my brother in law to get the pictures from his camera online. .

Pics of my new rod!

This one has a slightly different color pattern and is an xst 1084 made into a 8ft6 rod.

Actually there isn't, they are the ones that match the blank. On my next rod I'm going to have the blue guides. Both of my xst rods have turned out perfect. Very good blanks!!

I miss them Brownies! I may head over to the Great Lakes this November and fish with Mark Crouse for Browns! Mark said they get huge and there is a ton of them.

That would be a lot of fun. I'm going to make one more trip out to the Deschutes before the upper stretch closes. It is so beautiful, nice and calm, and then WHAM! So much fun! Thanks for the great rod blanks.

hate to dig up an old thread and pick bones but I have a question or rather request for harry . I would eventually like to learn how to measure my blanks using the ccs system (yes I read the articles) as well as find out thier resonant frequency , I believe this could be a helpfull tool for me to better understand and then in turn explain the actions and designs I offer . At the time though , being a business owner , webmaster , manufacturer , product developer , distributor , and doing all of my own marketing , not to mention Mom , Wife , and yes sometimes I neeeed to go fishing too , I just don't have the time . Emory , maybe we could work something out or if you know someone near me that can help me that would be great . On another note , I wasn't saying that modulus is not important to the overall design of a rod, instead I was trying to express that in terms of what the public knows and is handfed by manufacturers and thier marketing teams , modulus is a relative term and really has very little meaning . I could say my blanks are made with 57 million modulus graphite material , but does that make my rod a better choice than Loomis Rainshadow , or whoever ? I believe it's the design itself and how the materials are used to optimize thier performance for a specific purpose , not the graphite count or the modulus that makes a better rod .
