Thanks. I only ride with a full coverage helmet. I've had a few sets of different riding gear including black leather for a few years.

Ha ha, no I suppose it might not ever be "finished", but the current plan is to install what I have.

I have front turn signal relocation brackets that require the tank to be pulled to get to the wiring. Chrome handlebar housings, clutch/brake housings, and new grips. I'm afraid that that is about 8-10 hours x 2. I'm making the same changes to my wife's Sportster. So that's like 16-20 hours.

What kinda turn signal relocation kit is it? I'm guessing you want them moved to the forks?

You shouldn't need to get to the wiring just to relocate them, usually the threaded posts screw into the new bases.

Yes, it's the fork relocation. There is a small hole in the bracket that I think is for the wire to go through. The only way it can go through it is to go through as bare wire. Really, just a pain in the neck. I suppose I could just use that as a tie wrap holder, but it wouldn't look as clean.

I think there's a set of instructions/diagram that comes with the kit, might be a good thing to look at, as I still believe the bases should accept the threaded posts, and the wires don't go through the small hole you are seeing in the base.

I guess I could be wrong, but I know on my signals to fork relocation kit I clamp each bracket to one fork, and then thread the signal into the bracket- no wiring to move or re-route.

Do you know what part# it is? I can look it up on H-D's site and get more info/ideas.

It's one of the following.

68517-94A
68564-06
50250-04

Chicago Harley doesn't list the part description on the order history. I did look at the instructions, but I can look again when I get home. It said I needed to pull the gas tank and take the wires out of the wire clips.

68517-94A looks like a wiring change

68564-06 looks like no wiring change

50250-04 is not showing up

If it were me, I'd consider the one without wiring changes.

According to the title of the pic I found, it's an American Indian Desert Motorcycle. I doubt an Italian mount would have gone over too well through procurement in the early 40's.

HD built a desert special also. They both had shaft drives and totaly different engines than the regular GI Harleys and Indians. The army bought about 1,000 of each make but stuck with the standard bikes that were modified civilian models.
