I have a question about the run of kings and silvers that go by the Purdy spit. When would be the best time to fish for them, and what would you recommend using? I am limited to the shore, and i just moved to this area recently and would like to get to know the runs of fish better. Any information will be greatly appreciated. I would also like to know if there is anywhere in the Carr inlet area that gets a descent run of steelhead.

I have no idea on that locale, but check for local hatcheries on whatever river you're interested in..should tell you what's there and when.

No steelhead runs of any size in Carr....there's a few native fish that use most all of the small creeks though.

I had a fairly good day yesterday, i hooked 2 kings and had 1 to the bank[about 15lbs] It put up a great fight, lasted about 10min or so. Really nice looking fish, had to release it though[was a wild fish]. But i was pumped to just have hooked a fish.

Goose hit it on the head... We used to have a nice little run in Burley Creek, but all the property on the creek is now private and poachers felt it was more inportant to take fish home. To date, I haven't received permission from anyone that I used to frequent their property. However, you do have a rare shot at catching one off the beach in Purdy come Jan/Feb.
As far as Chinook and Coho going past Purdy... technically they are all headed to Minter Creek which is just southwest. The fish have a strong tendency to mingle in Burley Lagoon. Not sure why, but they do!
Most guys will fling Buzz Bombs, but take a look at large spinner and spoons for the Nooks and scaling back in size for the coho... another option is cast an ounce to two in front of a Bait Buster...
