Went out to one of my favorite spots this weekend, and found about four pounds in an hour. So it was a little slow but, they were in perfect shape and tasted great.

Saw 'em for $8 (Cheep!) a pound at Pike Place Market yesterday.

Nice batch of them last nite with leek and garlic over pork steaks. Steamed beets and greens on the side.

Found a nice patch while deer hunting, 80% buttons. I drizzled them over some backstrap after seasoning with garlic butter. MMMMM.

I've never been hunting for mushrooms. Since I enjoy cooking, love getting outdoors, this sounds like something I need to do. Perhaps we can figure out how to have sometype of gathering where newbies like me can learn some basics. I'd be more than happy to host a squid fishing gathering.

Anybody interested???

found some chantrelles in the grocery store the other day and decided to give them a try. sliced up and sauted in butter with minced garlic and a pinch of salt and pepper. great taste...munched a few and then made an omelet with the rest. yummy....

Is it possible to grow your own chantrelles in a shady moist portion of your garden? Get some real chantrelles, somehow collect the spores, spread the spores into the ground ... ?

yes. you can grow your own but I believe it is a bit more involved. I've never done it and am clueless but in college some people I ran into did something like that

I don't believe that chantrelles can be cultured....at least I haven't been able to find any supplies for it. Joker I'll see if I can get some free time to go on an shroom expedition.
