Coho in the Sky and Snohomish
      #345601 - 09/06/08 10:59 AM

I was out yesterday to scout the area and what's going on, I just hit the lower Sky and upper Snohomish

Lot's of pinks jumping in most spots, but there's a good number coho also, not enough for great fishing, but a buddy landed 2, I lost 1 and an old gentleman in a small boat had 1. Not too many boats out on Friday, this weekend may be a different story though. I haven't seen any fish rolling by my place, but a few coho have been caught around here and higher.

A little, but not much, I was up higher.

Went 0-2 today, wish Pete was there, I needed somebody to run the net. Lost the first one on a root, but the second one was lost at the boat while I was netting it.

You could make it up there if you have ran the river for years and know exactly where to run. High tide means more water, but all the stumps and stuff will be lurking inches under the surface and not visable in frog water. Lower tides and you better know where the deepest slot is and not get out of it. Many head up there and some make it, others I see rowing back to Snohomish. Bill

Depending on the boat and your experience it can be done, I use to run it in a 16' boat with 90HP prop all the time, but that was at least 20 years ago. The problem is like BBob says, you need to know where all the junk is, plus gravel bars and pilings. It changes every year, so do it at your own risk.

Even in a small boat with a small O/B expect to hit something.

I've been down that stretch at these flow levels in a canoe and there are places where there's not enough depth to paddle very effectively.

I've just been going out in the afternoon, I start around 2:00 or so, sometimes it's hard to find people at that time of the day.
