Have you ever used one of these rests? if I keep the Oneida I want to be able to tune easier, I have had tuning problems in the past and this rest seems to cure alot of them. So they say anyway!

No experience with this rest. My Onieda has been a dust collector the last couple years.

Sturgn, do you shoot with a release or fingers? If fingers, try something besides a Bo-doodle...maybe a Golden Key Starhunter. I tend to go with real simple rests on my hunting bows, with as few moving parts as possible. Ever had a setscrew back out and your rest move during a hunt? I have! Now part of my pre-season tuneup is to check and lock-tite every damn screw I can find! (on sights, quivers, rest, etc.)For simplicity, I really like the new shoot-through rests from Martin and NAP. Minimal moving parts. (less expensive than a Doodle, too)

I shoot release, and I have had screws back out on my rest and other spots on this bow it vibratesa alot when shot(One of the reasons I am thinking about repacing it), I will check out some other rests it just seems like I can never get it tuned right, I always have fishtailing, never been able to get rid of it!
I dont get any porposing, just lots of side to side, I have learned to shoot with it, really not much of a factor I never shoot over 30 yards anyway!
This has been a really nice bow, and I have taken many animals with it in the last 5 years, but I have had lots of problems with it to, I think its really time to upgrade!Thanks for info!

Sturgn, those are hard shooting bows, just too darn many moving parts for me! I used to shoot 3-D tournaments with an Onieda factory shooter, and witnessed two separate incidents that convinced me not to buy one...first time, a power cable broke on the practice lanes...ugly! Next time, (a couple of weeks later) the target we had to shoot was set up so you had to shoot from a kneeling position. He leaned just a little too low, and the lower limb struck the ground. Fastest self dis-assembly of a compound bow I ever saw!

PS...I think you may be getting fletching contact with your rest or riser. That, or wrong arrow spine is the most common cause of side-to-side arrow flight.[ 06-10-2001: Message edited by: greg ]

Greg I had that happen when in a kneeling shooting position also....ARG. Got lucky when the bow shop fixed it late night for me.
I agree simple is best even though I shoot the onieda. I also insist on a quiet rest when sliding the arrow. Had a 6x6 or was that the 7x7 that bolted at 10 yards when the rest squeeked (use felt covering now). Two monster bulls hanging out together in the late season didn't have a chance to count points. I only know how big they were because friends who also saw them got a good count. Not to many moving parts on your long bows..

Nope, those are as simple as you can get, just a stick and string  ! Only problem is, the way I've been shooting lately, I have to get REAL close  . I feel for you on that big one, I've managed to miss two big bulls the last two years...but that's another sob story!

I agree with greg sturgn sounds like a vane interference thing i had same problem with a high doller rest ended up taking it off going to a cheaper rest a couple things too watch for if you dont use nocks with a set screw you might consider, always check vane clearence and set the knocks down also ran into some arrows that were built for me that had way to much run out some of the more notible experts in this area claim you dont need more than 6 degrees run out on vanes yet i measured mine and some had as much 30 degrees add all this up and i was having a tough time with any consistentcy but the more i learn on tuning the better i have gotten and now i'm set up to build my own the groups are getting tighter all the time .
