permit hunt succsess
      #34908 - 10/07/01 05:03 PM

Well me and my uncle just finished up our one day permit hunts in a PLM unit in eastern Wa. It was a 3 point or less or anterless hunt. I bagged a small 3 point muley and my uncle shot a beautiful heavey horned, 22 inch spread, reaverted 3 point, The thing touched the floor at the meat shop where we took it to hang with it leggs cut of at the knees. To hunt an areawith no other people.Spot the dear, do the sneek,it was great.
The people that offer these hunts to the public also offer pay hunts with all the money going back to manage the deer heard whitch number as high as 1500 animals. We saw no less than 3 deer that would have gone over 30 inches in heighth and width and lots of other bucks that had to many points to shot and lots of 3 point or less bucks that we didnt harvest for one reason or another.
The state is now trying to make this a doe only hunt because people are bitching because they think that the bucks that are beeing harvested are the deer that they could get if they were to wonder out of this area.HOG WASH. Its all private property surrounding it.Have you tried to get permission to hunt private property, its not that easy. The way its set up now anybody can atleast apply for a chance to hunt the best big deer habitate this state has to offer.I would sure hate to see the state step in and screw this up.

Glad to here you had success! As for the state screwing things up... Don't they always? It never fails that when there is a good thing going they decide to "make it better". After I get my deer this year I will have to give you a ring and see about doing some bird hunting. I normally am in Othello a few times during the winter visiting my sister and shooting birds with her hubby.

Plug thats a great hunt. Bummer you can't bag one of the Monsters for them. You might try telling them you have a friend that would be willing to trade advertising for a couple tags . Would need you to squeeze the trigger on one of them .
Just a idea if youre interested in going back.
