Any one gotten out Pheasant hunting yet? My neighbor hit the release site at the lake (vancouver lake)and saw a few birds. Hows the outlook for Eastern Wa? Anyone know of a fairly accessible field around Yakima area? Thanks and good luck!

If you have the oppurtunity to keep driving on past yakima and down to the walla walla valley and surrounding areas, there are many many big roosters. The other day on my way to the Grande Ronde River, I counted 19 roosters in a grain field that was not posted. There is ample ground under the feel free to hunt category. Lots of birds. I see them consistently in the wallula area where the walla walla river meets the columbia. Just watch out for fishermen. Yakima has gone down the tubes. I grew up hunting the rez. and surrounding valleys and if I could do it all over again I'd drive down to walla walla.

You picked a good week, The state will be making there final plant of the year. A little home work to find the areas and you should do well. Those native birds, although still there, turn in to runners instead of flushing, making them awful tough to harvest. good luck

Shot two banded roosters near Moses last Wednesday. Coyote Ridge and a number were on the blue bands. My visit started out with a bang. Went hunting alone at 1:30PM the first day and was back in two hours with 2 roosters, 2 mallards. Shot a total of four shells. hot.hot.hot.My other outings over the next few days were skunk-ola, even the fishing trips. Seen some big spawner bows caught. Should have focused on the geese East of town, but didn't. Venison sausage is gooood.

Ok funny story time...Went to Yakima for Turkey day, and in packing the truck I asked my wife If she loaded my guncase and duffel bag (BIG MISTAKE) she said yes. I didnt bother double checking (BIGGER MISTAKE!!!) So it wasnt until we were unpacking in Yakima that I realized the mistake...Boy was I miffed. And to add insult to injury, my dads place in Yakima sits on a couple of acres bordered by farm and nurserys. I kicked up three birds walking his propery, 2 roosters, and a hen! Im still kicking myself over that one! btw Born2, nice shootin' 4 shots, 4 kills....love that!

Thats ok, I moved to walla walla and stored my guns at my brother in laws. I have kicked up 50 birds or so. It sure is neat watching them fly. It all works out for I discovered steelheading!
