hey. i was hunting in a corn feild on sunday and me and me buddy were calling in ducks but the wouldn't come down on our spread. don't know why. any hints?

Ducks have really good vision and are often spooked by the slightest things. I try to never look directly at the birds until I pull the gun up. I try to keep my face down so I do not reflect sun. Good camo is also a must. That will very by your location. Also what condition are your decoys in? I like to keep mine clean and frost free. I have seen people use decoys that sat in the bed of the truck all night and they don't work worth a darn. These are just starters.

hey. i wash me decoys after i use them. and i wear some advantage wetland camo. but the hiding the face i will try. thanks.

I stop and watch ducks work corn fields all the time. They will circle a field sometimes for 10 or 15 min and just leave without setting down. Even on fields they have been working for days. Even when they do go in, they usually circle untill several other flocks join them, sometimes untill thousands join them, then a few go in and its follow the leader.My point is they seem to be way more cautious than on water. They have been getting shot at now for 4 months and like to live in large groups. Large spreads late in the season are very important as is having several good callers in your group. Hope this helps.

The most useful piece of equipment that I have for duck hunting is a facemask. It lets you still track the birds, without spooking them. You can find them at most archery shops.
