travel rods

Any recommendations for travel rods that fit in the luggage. With the new rules I would like to put my rods inside the luggage instead of a separate case.

Marty,
Have you seen my website? I have 6 different travel rods all break down into 3-4 pieces and fit in 29" of rod tube , pvc, or whatever. There are 3 fly rods and 3 spinning/casting rods. They aren't cheap , but they aren't built cheap either. Follow this link http://wyldedge.com/newpacknav.htm

BTW I have one for sale at a bit of a discount on ebay right now too, it's the 8' 4 piece steelhead spin rod , seller id is same as member id here .

IST1264-4 float rod 10'6" I love it but maybe a bit long for swinging spoons. Let me know I will drop Mike a line and see what he has left.

Marty I use a 1263 for Clearwater steel on bent metal. 20 pounds is not out of the question here. Not quite Skeena standards, but I'd work 'em hard on a 1264...

Marty,
If your spoons are not heavier than 3/4 oz. I can recommend the Batson RX7 4-piece fly rod Blank for spinning.
The name is IF9010-4.
It is a #10 fly rod blank 9' long.
I use it for spinning for seatrout. Very nice blank. A little bit faster than my IST1265F. You will loose your warranty if you use it for spinning.
If you want another (heavier) blank you can look at the page of munichrodmansrodshop. He has some UK-made 4-piece spinning blanks, but for steelhead a little bit too heavy, perhaps.
Regards, Thilo

Hi,
Could you tell the name and size of your single hooks you use with spinners (PM)?
To use single hooks is very fair for little trout.
Thanks,
Thilo

i like the batson rx6 f-series 4 piece for a spinning travel rod. i have built many 7 and 8 weight 4 piece spinning rods 9 to 9 1/2 footers out of them for taking on flight.. they handle 6-10 lb test very good. 12 is a little much but it will work.. my spinning/strip casting f986-2 with 5 inch removable or 2 inch fighting butt does just fine with up to 1/2 oz spoons and 10 lb test. spinning/reel or strip casting with fly reel and mono.. i have landed a few steelhead over 15 lbs on it and have battled a few over 20 lbs on it.. the rx6 has a very good feel working hardware, spinners, spoons and flatfish.. rx7 makes a very good bait rod. faster action and more sensitive in the tip but the rx6 you can feel the throb of your stuff working down deep into the blank..

Angler's Workshop has the IM6 4 piece 8 ft 6 in MH drift rod blank, the blanks were made for them by Talon I believe.
