Where and when is the best time to go out for smelt in the Sequim/Port Angeles area? I went last year to Cline Spit, but I think I was too late. I only caught about 15 smelt in a couple trips out.

Never smelted at Kline spit, But the coast is only a couple hours away and I have seen them so thick you could almost use your hands instead a net on Beach 4. Have also done it in the PA harbor but there doesn't seem to be a specific time for the smelt in the straits. If they are in they are in.. You might want to go farther west on 112 and try along some of the Twin beaches. Look for people standing in the surf.
