Halibut rigs?
      #35211 - 05/09/01 11:43 PM

Halibut opens in the straits next week...what kind of rigging are you going to target them with? Spreader with herring? baited jig? Anybody try using a glostick to add attraction to your rigg?

A big one goes over 100 here and the monster would be 200. Most are smaller and better eating. The big ones are the spawner females and should be released. There was some nice ones out of Neah bay with the wind dying down. I am sure some more nice ones were caught today.

Out front a spreader and salmon belly, out at NB go with a pipe jig and squid in your favorite color. 1 pound or 2 pound depending on the depth. 600 feet is a long way down

What didn't work: spreader bar/light stick/herring with and without hootchie and scent...

What did work: spreader bar/squid/herring teaser

AuntyM have you tried putting a small silver flasher on your spreader bar. Just wondering

Not yet, but you can bet I will now! I love to try something different. Thanks!
