Anybody used the flexible titanium guides? Claim recoil when bent and added sensitivity to the rod besides being lighter in weight.
Back when I use to wear glasses I had the titanium frames they could really take the abuse and keep on ticking.
Anyway looking for reviews on these type of guides

I have seen them and built many rods with them . Never fished them myself . They do bounce right back, over and over , they take a lot of abuse , and they are muck lighter than traditional guides bcause they do no have any ceramic insert . The only drawback is the extra expense.

Some lines make them sing as you reel or drag is going out. I haven't put any on my rods but have built 2 spinning rods and never heard if they like them or not. WFFF

i think that for what they want for the recoils, you'd be better off spending your cash on some fuji SiCTi guides, or a set of amtak titans.

Just had to return a set of titans (cost me over $100), double foot spinning style . They were awfull . I barely wiggled one to align it on the blank before coating and the ring popped right out , the frames on all of them in the set were too soft. I think I'll stick with fuji's , the price is the same and I trust the quality . Recoils are a good quality guide , but I think they are better for lighter rod aplications, light spinning and fly rods, they are great for say a pack rod where you will be putting the rod in and out of a tube often, and possibly falling or dropping your pack , won't protect your blank any but at least your guides will be ok

I have them on three custom xst batson blanks for steelhead. I love them to death, but it does take some getting used to. The weight difference is amazing. My xst 1084 weighs under 5oz complete!! They have made it through a hard year of fishing for steelhead, plus I have been using them on catching salmon for the last month on the trinity river in nor cal. Good guides. I would add that they work really well for spinning applications but I'm not sure about casting. The three rods I have built with them are all spinning, but they perform amazing!

The titanium guides are definately lighter and will therefore give you better sensitivity but I really dislike the squeeking sound that they make when reeling in the line. As far as Fuji guides are concerned I cannot understand why any custom rod builder would buy Fuji guides especially the Sic guides. They are much more expensive and Fuji as a company does almost nothing to support custom rod building. I would much prefer using the Forecast guides and the new Alps guides for most applications are the best on the market in my judgment. They are very light but still durable.

I hear batson has some new light guides out that I might be using on a new float rod.

Hollywood10s, They do. I think that you are probably referring to the Apls guides and I think that they are really nice guides. I weighed several of them and they are close to half as heavy as conventional U frame guides.

I've replaced a few reoils that were tested by their owners to the extreme, showing their buddies how indestructible they were. They are a memory metal like all others, for instance spring steel, they are not designed to take repeated, extreeme, unneccessary demonstrations of their flexibility.
