Anyone modify there flashers to release after a strike/fish on to where it is free flow on the main line. I've seen it before but before I start drilling holes in my good flashers thought I might freshin up on the technique. Anyone have a clue what I'm taking about

I know exactly what you are talking about. I use them with great success for kings. I don't use them much for blackmouth, but when the coho are in or I am up in BC that's all I use. One thing that you have to watch out for is other boats. I've lost a few when boats come across the line. The operator sees the flasher near the surface or by the boat and thinks the fish is just underneath it, when in reality the fish may be 10-50 yards out. Snap...there goes the line and the fish. If you are thinking of making your own I suggest buying one. The only place that I know who carries them is Ted's in Lynnwood. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. Teds is selling them with the pin in the rear to release after the strike? That would be cool to buy one and just make my own. Don't want the screw up the GOOD flashers. I give them a try. The only thing I was woundering about is pin placment. Does it affect action or do they come with different holes to change to personal liking?

The ones that I use have no pin that releases. It's free sliding, the only time that the flasher would come up the line is when a fish is running or is close to the surface. Which is why I only use it for coho and big kings. You must be thinking of a different model than the ones I use.
