Ahh Marty,

It was a classic Hood Canal opening day. We got to the launch a little before 7 AM. The line was waaayyyy down the hiway. That should have been my first clue huh? More people than I have ever seen in 10 years of this fun filled event. Blue Creek on steroids! [Frown]

Well, after waiting in line for an hour or so, and locating all of our passengers, we get launched and set out. We made it just about to ****** **** and started getting the gear ready...

Hey! Where are the buoys? Uhoh, someone forgot the buoys... sinking feeling. [Frown] I was responsible for bait and containers, all the indoor stuff. I asked prior to departure where the buoys were, and was told they were stored under one of the seats. Hmmm...

So, we decide to try shrimping by tying off the lines to the boat cleats. All four of them. We then tasked FH5 with using the kicker to keep us as stationary as possible. I must say, he did a darn good job for 4 hours!

By this time, FishonGrahn is certain he is with crackers. [Big Grin]

After 40 minutes or so, we pull the first pot... Uhoh! About 16 shrimp. NOT GOOD!

We pull the other pots, and get just over one limit. Yada yada yada, we made some adjustments, and we had several really good pulls, and managed to get all 6 limits anyway. End of story? I don't think so!

Here is what happens when things don't go as planned. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] -

Everything turned out fine in the end and we had to toss back a few shrimp. I hope my guests had a good time. I know I enjoyed their company, as did my hubby. [Cool]

Marty,

I heard it through the grapevine that there were many shrimpers that didn't get limits. Happens every year. It isn't because of a lack of shrimp. They just don't know what they're doing. If we can limit 6 people with the handicap we had, it just ain't that hard. [Roll Eyes]

HAIL to the QUEEN, all was as planned until they asked me to get out the shrimp boys from under the seat. OOOOOOPS UH what bouys. [Confused] auntyM had just said " you will never find a better person to teach you how to shrimp" just before i found out these crackers forgot the bouys, and drove two hours for the trip. I will say that aunty M is the shiat when it comes to shrimp. we all limited with ease even without bouys.(6x80=480 shrimpys) pretty impresive if you ask me as not everyone did as well as us EVEN with bouys [Big Grin]

Hey Aunty M
Good Work(shrimp goddess) [shrimp] , fishon told me all about it, he said you were a total cracker [Big Grin] , and a few other things [Roll Eyes] ....... [Wink] but anyways, those were some good tasting shrimpies, he brought some sunday, I got 1 or 2, FJ ate em all... [Razz]

Sounds like you did really well for improvisational shrimpin', way to go!

Fishon really liked you and your crew...hmmmmm
[Confused]
Hopefully I make it to the next flotilla to razz you in person.

Wayne,

Eagerly awaiting our meeting. You do realize I get a hug? It's mandatory! [Wink] This should be one heck of a get together. It looks like all the "party" people will be in attendance. Uhoh...

I sure hope that secret *zipper* board member makes it. Oh, and Marty too. [Razz]

Wayne,

Fat? I think Marty should find a way to eliminate that word from this board. *grr* [Wink]

Might be able to work in a halibut trip after the flotilla. I will let you know.

Well the "Shrimpin' Queen" and her able body sidekick came through once again today. My Dad and I had the opportunity to get out with Aunty, Mike and their friend Dwight today. Gorgeous day on the canal, great company and oh ya 5 limits of some damn tasty shrimp. Thanks Mike and Marsha for the awesome day, just hope I can return the favor soon!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff [Big Grin] [shrimp] [Big Grin] [shrimp]

Jeff,

You sure caught on fast. [Wink] Nothing worse than having someone aboard who just doesn't "get it"

Was a pleasure to have you and Sam along. Hope you can make it again.

Looking forward to the Pt. D clinic. [Cool]

RJ,

I gave you a years notice on shrimping season. Stop sniveling!
