I'm not going to Westport, but I'll be launching at 0500 Monday at Pt. Defiance. Is it legal to fish the outside of the south jetty at Westport Sunday? Had good luck there in the past, but usually around Labor day.

Quillback, it is open at the jetty. Fished it twice this year and had good days both times. A south sound report would be great if you get a chance when you get back.

On sunday area 2 opens for one hatchery silver and one king. Area 2 is defined as as far east as an emaginary line from the tip off of the north jetty to the tip of the south jetty. So yes the "hog" hole is open. I think that i will probably go to a spot that I found last week that has some killer bombers 5#ers.

Just as a side note. PLease, Please try to get your kings. The silver quota is not that high this year and when the quota has been met the ocean shuts down.

Sounds like it is going to be a good day with boat maintanence. Tomorros forcast is 10' seas and im sure that s not counting the wind chop.
But high preasure is supposed to build so I figure the fourth will be a my first day out.

You guys should hit Pt Defiance, there were lot of boats, but lots of fish, even I managed to boat 3, a 14,12 and a 6. Another boat back at the dock at the same time I was had 5 all over 10. It was an early bite, really slowed down about 0730. I'll be back tomorrow at 0500, there's a good early tide change, I hope it's still hot fishing, should be. I have a 17' Whaler with WHALER in big red letters on the side, holler at me if you are there.

The tulalip bubble is a tough fishery and is always jammed full of boats. Sorry to hear about your luck. Just out of curiosity though did you guys mark many fish on your finders out there? Seems like the bubble doesn't really get going until later.

Never be sorry about ones luck. It was a great day, the water was flat which was a good thing I put in at Oak Harbor and ran down to tulalip which is just north of everett it is a 26 mile trip one way. In a 14 foot lund it took almost a hour. It did take me awhile to figure out way my sonar was not working right (700 feet deep my a**) it was getting interference from all the other boats sonars. I caught several bull heads and sand dabs, when I got tired of draggin
balls and fished a dart by the buoy. The radio stations were comming in good and I had a had held radio with 2 friends on the same frequency. Overall it was a GREAT day

I also hit pt d for the opener due to bad weather at westport, we managed to get 1 in the boat apx 15lbs and missed a few more. Quillback I think I seen you out there, I was in the blue searay that was driving itself. I might have even talked w/ you at the dock after pulling out. It was a whaler w/ 3 fish? Anyways great day on the water and lots of boats.

Well DJ and fishslayer looks like sunday is going to be a good day out on the water. If your interrested in buying fresh herring call Deep Sea Charters 360-268-9300 by 200pm sat. Larry the owner is asking $4.25 a dozen. Its $5.00 a dozen at the Hungry Whale.
I think that im going to try to do a combo trip. Get the salmon first and then Ive got that nice rock that has some of those 5# bombers.

Hey FS, well we got skunked today, lost a good one at the boat, only caught a 2 lb Silver which was weird because we were fishing 150 feet deep with Plugs when we caught it. I'll be back out Friday AM I'lll holler at you if I see ya. Saw a guy at the dock with 4 one was about 20 Lb, they were running a plug off a meatline, fishing 225 - 175 ft deep. I can't see how anyone enjoys cranking them in on a meatline, but a lot of guys do it at PD.

Way to go, FS, I was out Friday AM, put three in the boat, 2 were 24" Blackmouth, one was in the 15 - 18 lb range (I don't have a scale). It was chaos at the ramp took me 40 minutes to get out, weekends and holidays always bring out the amatuers that can't get their boat on the trailer.

Well Anouther awsome day out in area two. Hey slayer you'll have to let me know when you come down next. How did ya do anyway. I think ya got your limit before we did. We didnt get of the ocean till 11.00 they shut off just before the tide change and we had to deal with the dogs. I call that last fish for a boat limit,Casper. When the bite goes off and all ya need one more fish. Oh I guess ya might want to know how we did. There were three of us. I caught four kings the largest was 12# and anouther guy (chris) Caught a fine 8# king and a three/four# silver. Well good fishin dude. [BIG NATE!!]

Went out on opening day at the clay banks by point defiance and our boat of 3 people caught 5 in 2 hours mooching and jigging I caught three of the five but my dad got the biggest of the fish at 23 1/4 pounds the rest were around 12 to 16 pounds. We could have limited out but I had drivers ed that afternoon. My dad works down at the point defiance marina and he sees how the fisherman do every day and they have been catching a lot of fish since it opened, I plan on going out tuesday evening to hit the high tide.

Glad to hear you got yours [Big Grin] I fished the hole day and we pulled out about 3pm. We were doing a little shopping for the big ones. Managed to get it done, all four fish kept were over 20lbs. [Big Grin] Only hit one small silver but seen a few others caught. It rained one more time for about 10 min and the weather was good after that. Good chatin with ya and I will let you know next time I'm heading over. Man I love that place.
