We are kind of on hold to the curent product line for a bit due to the economy crunch but yes we plan on expanding the XST line up in the future I dont know if the 1144 would make the cut because its such a new blank design so we need to see how its recieved in the RX7.

Karry, thanks for the info. There is another question I want to build a spinning rod using the XST1263 blank to throw spoons for sea trout. Sea trouts are not as strong as your steelheads. A 12 lb rod would be enough, but I have to cast very far behind the waves. How much is the maximum casting weight the XST1263 is able to cast if you cast with your maximum power? Is 1263 a little bit stronger than the 1143 and is the 1263 blank able to cast a little more than 3/4 oz spoons, perhaps 4/5 oz.? I know the XST1143. I would say the 1143 is only able to cast 3/5 oz., if you cast with much power, but able to throw 3/4 oz. if you cast with normal power. Thanks

Go with the XST1264 and don’t look back the last thing you want is a rod that has just enough power when you can have a rod with plenty of power with minimal amount of added blank weight! Use Braid as well for added casting distance.
Set it up like this spin set up and let it FLY! it'd be nice if some of the distributors would list some of the new models that came out last year!

Karry, I am really pleased that you are expanding the XST line of blanks. I have been building rods a long time out of a wide variety of different blanks but in my judgment your XST blanks are the finest blanks that I have ever had my hands on.

I do not think that warranties are any better than the people or company that they come from but you do not need to be concerned about the warranties from Batson Enterprises. The Batson folks have been much more than fair with any problems with broken blanks that I have had. In fact, I have returned blanks that I know the customer broke due to abuse and they replaced them without any questions.

Batsons warranty is pretty much the standard warranty offered by most manufacturers and they are great to deal with. Problem is people expect a free replacement everytime a rod breaks. Somehow most fishermen have gotten the mentality that every rod they buy should have an unconditional free replacement for life whether they beat them up putting them in and out of rod lockers, high stick them, put them way over the line/lure rating etc... And if they dont get a free replacemt they feel that the company has cheated them somehow. The vast majority of failures are caused by the user, not faulty workmanship and most of the time the incedent that ultimately causes the failure is not evident until later when the rod actually breaks. I was fishing with a guy last week who set the hook frickin HARD everytime he thought he had a bite. I mean swinging hard and fast waay over his head. He was telling me about all the rods he has broken and had replaced. He was making noises like he wanted me to build one for him and I was thinking yeah, i'll never build one for you after watching the way you fish man. I have never had a rod break from faulty workmanship but I have broken a couple by my own misuse.

3RivrFishr, I can not agree with you more. I think that a rod breaking due to a defect is very, very rare and if it happens it will happen the first time that a rod is used, certainly not 6 months or a year later. Fishermen should realize though that carbon fiber while having much higher modulus of elasticity and lower density than fiber glass, which makes it the best material known for rods, has significanly less strength than fiber glass and is much easier to break and should be treated accordingly. Those that are in the habit of mistreating their rods should consider using glass rods. However, the new Rainshadow XST blanks with the mixed modulus design should make breakage less common.
