Orcas Island
      #360324 - 01/03/09 08:04 PM

Looks like my family is going to be taking vacation on Orcas
Island at East Sound. My Bro Inlaw want's me to bring my boat. To fish salt do I have to have a marine radio and flares? What kind of fishing can I do over the 4th of July.
Thanks
WFFF

Flares required also a whistle. Radio is not required. Should be a mix of salmon plus some crab. I know a couple of good clam beaches also.

Get a set of charts for the area and a decent compass. Declinate the compass. A GPS is dependent upon electricity. It can get awful foggy some summer days. You should add some weight to your pots also and double up the buoys.

I do have a good compass and for the pots I will need to add a lot of weight as the pots I have are light.
Thanks again Gooose
