It's about time! Archers and Felons were the only two groups of people who could not carry a firearm for protection in the woods. Archers have to get up close when hunting Bear and Cougar, if the animal attacks, they are screwed. I have always disagreed with the rule banning possession of a gun while archery hunting, and this is a welcome change to archers statewide!

Quote:

It is unlawful for any person to carry or have in his possession any firearm while in the field archery hunting, during an archery season specified for that area, except for modern handguns carried for personal protection. Modern handguns cannot be used to hunt big game or dispatch wounded big game during an archery, big game hunting season.

I am still reading the rest of them.

No f'in way. They are slowly reducing our hunting seasons until they are non-existent!! Early archery blacktail season where I hunt will lose 5 days 2009, 7 days 2011. Then 6 days for late season in 2009, 9 days in 2011!

Grouse limits go up from 3 to 4 daily. That should more than make up for the loss of days behind the bow.

I bowhunt Grouse, so that's more time behind the bow.

More muzzle loader seasons in Douglas County. That's awesome!

Make sure the start date didn't get moved too. One of the changes looked in my favor until I saw that the season ended later, but started much later. So it was a smaller season in the end.

There are several GMU's that haven't had a muzzle loader season ever as far as I know.

Right on! At least some are getting it good in their area. I was just letting you know so you could double check before you got your hopes up.

I'll still rifle hunt for deer, as I've got max points on deer for the special permits. But I'll take some family/friends muzzle loader hunting on some good open ground I have access to before general season. Should be fun. Only another 8.5 months.

Then off to Montana for the big game combo (have 3 points, should get drawn) and then Idaho deer on the way home.

I've given up on Wa for elk unless I get another special permit. Can always hope and pray for the sheep/goat special permit, but I probably used my luck up on my Wa moose tag.
