Crappie and Channel Catfish Places?
      #364436 - 01/27/09 07:28 PM

I usedto enjoy fishing for Catfish and Crappie yrs. ago. Since moving here I've benn almost exclusively in the Salt. Now I'd like to start some freshwater fishing without driving too far. But I'm NOT interested in trout...well maybe Koke's.
Anyway I'm looking for someplace near to Oak Harbor but haven't found anyplace to go...Help?

Not interested in your "secret" spots but just a general location like a lake name.

Oh...I fish from shore too cuz th boat is too big for the launches at the lakes. Unless I use my new 'Toon.

TIA,
Terry B.

The only place I know of on the west side for channels is the columbia and Harts lake. I have caught a few decent cats outta Harts. For Crappie, I would hit Lake Washington. Its a huge lake and sometimes hard to narrow down where to fish, but Ive heard good things about lake union and up by the university. Also Ive had good days on Duck lake by ocean shores. Other lakes that have Crappie but I havnt had consistant luck are Tanawax,Silver and Rapjohn. For nice fat crappie I would make the trip over to Potholes.
All those lakes are pretty much in the south sound.

Shaun.

I've done okay for crappie on Cassidy and Roesiger, though the average size seems to shrink more and more every year.
