Not really....
Fished the Rogue from the Hatchery to Toule Velle (whatever its called) Tuesday.......Sweet water, no fish. The stinkin trout didn't even bite. Water temp is in the low 40's though.
Tuesday I fished the Gold hill stretch. Again, no fish. Did get a couple trout though. Fiesty little scrappers. Water was sweet there too.
So I floated about 20 miles of river with someone who's been here for over 25 years and pounded it with eggs, yarnballs, spoons, and plugs.............might be a bum year, let's hope not.
Wish I had a Kodak report, but.....

Wish we could have gone down. I was in Shady Cove so we kept it simple. Even the State Troopers we talked to said it sucked all over. Always fun to float the Rogue.

KS is right, the majority of the winter runs above Ranie Falls are holding in/below Grants Pass. Only thing (number's wise) you'll find in the upper river are left over summer runs at this point in the year.

Well the good news is the number of fish through the Gold Ray fish counter has jumped considerably over the past two weeks (into the top 30 miles of river). The 'bad news' its been raining/snowing like hell the past few days.
That said, you really want to watch the river gauges (and turbitity) to choose how far up stream you want to drive. No issues in the top one mile as all that waters dam controlled and should be low and clear.

Going to be interesting to see where this winter seasons ends up. As of a couple of days ago about 4500 fish through the counter into the upper river.
Just a case of "where the hell are they???????" If you're a bankie, head to the top mile below the hatchery. In a boat? Take your pick.
What's going to be more interesting is the rivers being 'plugged' at Savage Rapids dam (fish runs) for the next three weeks while they dismantle the dam. How many fish held back? You're guess is as good as mine. fae
