Guys, this is what I grew up fishing for in the lakes and rivers back east...landlocked striped bass. They're the south's answer to salmon, and one of the few anadromous fish available. These are some big, powerful, aggressive SOB's, and are a ton of fun to catch. That's my dad in the picture...his fish was 47 inches long, and 30 inches in girth. We never had it weighed (more fun to speculate that way ) Greg

Greg, We used to fish for Stripers while my husband was stationed at Mare Island Naval Shipyard....It became an obsession!My nephew has a few good pics of Umpqua River Stripers at RJ's page Darn I miss those fish....So unappreciated!

Hey Greg, I fished Stripers for the first time in Lake Havasu last winter...loved it...great table fair also!

I live by the airport, the stripper fishing in the Sea-Tac area can be extremely productive...hey, you got to fish where the fish are right?

I grew up catching stripers out of Havasu. We used to catch 30 pounders back then and the lake was full of threadfin shad for forage. Sometimes they would "boil" on the surface making for exciting fishing. That was when Havasu City was pretty much just the bridge and an amusement park.
