Why Bass?
      #36578 - 02/25/02 09:30 AM

I have a question for all you Bass fishermen and women out there that I have been thinking about for some time. I have noticed in the last few years that the popularity of Bass fishing in this area has grown. We moved up here from Louisiana in the early 60's and at that time Salmon and trout were the fish of choice for fishermen that I knew. Well now Salmon and trout fishing are still as popular as ever but bass fishing seems to be gaining. Anyway my question is why? What is it for you that make's you want to fish for Bass? For me it's being able to go to a new lake I've never been to, locate them and catch them. I'm not always sucessful but the more I practice the better I get at it. I'll admit I don't alway's catch fish but I usally do. How about you?

The GREAT thing about bass fishing is just what you said is finding them. Once the pattern is figured out you can catch them all day, the fun starts with the pattern with-in the pattern, Ive fished tournys for years and a great day is when everbody has a limit of 2 pounders but you have a limit of 5 pounders...in 1983 on lake seminal in georga I had a 38 pound limit (7 fish) to win a bass federation tourny the 2nd place finisher had
28 pounds. great memories...DJ

Fishmute
I have spent alot of time in louisiana, when I was a kid the speckeled sea trout, the drums, and brim, were the fish of choice(sulpher). The fishing here has changed alot(in both places), and there are some big bass here , but because of the other fisheys, I don,t bass fish much, But too me the pattern, and similarities , do pertain to nw steelhead(imo).
Nothing wrong with bass fishing, I got camping property, that I often bass fish, for some excitement. I love fishing period, except catfish, too boring 4 me, when i was a kid...hell yah!. Anyhow that,s all I have too say about that ya,all.

DJFish -- Hey!I fish Lake Seminole right now, and can only wish the Bassin was still that good. It's hunt and peck for the most part now to get a limit like you had. How do you like it out there ? Coming out there to fish some, soon, can't wait. I love to Bass Fish, but who am I kidding, if it's biting, I'm fishing for it!
Even like those monster Catfish, when I feel like just sitting back and enjoying the scenery for a change.....

Why bass you ask. just come over and fish the snake river over here. Hook into a 6 or 7 lb. smallmouth, and you'll never ask that question again.
