Lake WA Perch jerkers?
      #36620 - 08/08/02 06:57 AM

Anyone out there had good success catching perch on Lake Washington? I hear it starts to pick up soon and there are plenty of them. Any advice as to where on the lake, techniques, size of fish?

Quillback,

I was fishing lake Washington 4 days last week.

The perch are thicker than millfoil right now, and
will be for the next two months. Launch your boat
at the WDFW site on 68th Ave. in Kenmore then head out on the lake and start fishing off Arrowhead Pt. Let me know if you prefer to launch and fish farther south on the lake and I can help ya out. [Smile]

Thanks Cigar! I would launch at the Bellevue ramp by Mercer Marine, if you know any spots around that area, that would be great, I can also motor a ways if necessary - so what size are they running? Any suggestions on depth, bait? Thanks again!

Quillback,

Anywhere along the East Channel, I liked the area
down by the old sawmill, near May Creek. I jig for them with either a Swedish Pimple or small Cast Master spoon. :spoon As soon as I get the first one in the boat I add a small teaser of perch meat with the skin attached. Keep moving around and a little deeper for bigger perch, they seem to school by size.

Good luck, and let us know how ya do! [Smile]

Thanks for the info Cigar, I'll probably give them a shot in a week or two, I'll let you know how it goes. Ever do any Crappie fishing on Lake WA? I've heard they are in there.

Quillback,

Don't know anything about crappie, but I have heard they are big and plentiful in Lake Union
around the NOAA docks.
