Walleye on HOT BiTE
      #367909 - 02/21/09 07:42 PM

I took the sled over to RyePatch(local pond)to try the new Yamaha out and start the breakin run. Perfect day on the water and since Iwas just going to run the boat and its Febuary I did not even think about taking any fishing gear. DUMB. Water was GLASS. When I went to load up after a couple hours ov running up and down the pond a family from Boise were just getting done fishing. They had pounded some real nice eyes. They had a total of 20 for 4 rods.

Wow, nice catch. Are the fish from those waters safe to eat?

State says no. Mercury levels are 3X limit for safe consumption. A lot of folks ignore the warnings. I kinda ruined their high when I explained it to them. I don't doubt that it would bother an Old Fart like you Dean.
Actually if you stick with the smaller ones 16-18" you can get away with just limiting consumption. That said I have a coworker that over did the fish consumption.. 3-4 times a week and now he is very sick and can't work. Still they are fun to catch.

What a crying shame a fishery like could be destroyed.

Try to look at it in a more positive way....you could always squeeze the juices from them and make your own thermometers.
