Fraser River
The Fraser River is still producing some good catches of salmon. You can still catch Chum, Chinook jacks and Coho but your main catch will be chum. The angling is not fast and furious but for those who like to spend a peaceful day on the water, it’s a great fishery. The Salmon fishing won’t last much longer, a few more weeks of this and it’s pretty much over for salmon on the Fraser.
Sturgeon
Sturgeon fishing has been very good all week. We managed to hook into some very nice fish in the 5 to 7 foot range (80 – 200 lbs). The biggest obstacle has been the tides; the day light hours are short so we can’t really pick the best tide to fish. You just head out in the morning and take your chances and hope the tides are favorable.
This is primetime sturgeon fishing; it doesn’t get much better than this. Now is the time to get a group together and make that trip of a lifetime. We offer 1 day or multiple days of guided sturgeon fishing. We are also extending our $50.00 discount until Christmas. If you book an 8 hr guided sturgeon trip you will receive $50.00 off the regular price if you mention this ad.
Vedder
The Vedder has had it’s ups and downs the past couple weeks. It’s that time of year again where fishing reports are outdated by the time we post them. The water is very high but fishable as I write this report. That could change within the hour if we get a heavy rainfall. I would suggest you call your local tackle store for a current water condition report before you head out. We will try to post a current report every Friday for your convenience.
Steelhead season is just around the corner.
Over 300 satisfied students
This season will we once again be offering our annual steelhead/river fishing seminar. This seminar is a 3- day seminar. The first 2 days are 2 hours in a classroom where you will learn the how’s, where’s and when’s of river fishing plus how to make your own tackle and save tones of $$$$. The 3rd day is a 6-hour fish out on the Vedder River. There are some great prizes to give away and you will receive a FREE STS Ball cap. You will also go home with tackle that you make during the classroom sessions.
This is what one of our students had to say!
"Hi Vic, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your Steelhead Seminar. I admire your patience, your excellent people skills and your superb knowledge on all aspects of the fishing industry. It's really enjoyable to watch a pro work at what they do best.
My confidence is high, my lines are always tight and my turn will come. I look forward to seeing you on the river again."
Thanks Again."

Chehalis
Like the Vedder, the Chehalis water levels are very high. The biggest difference between theses two rivers is that the Chehalis will drop and clear quickly once the rain has stopped. We have been receiving reports of good fishing for Coho but many fish are beginning to show spawning colors. We are also receiving reports of anglers snagging or trying to snag fish in the hatchery run. Please do not snag fish, if you land a fish that is foul hooked please release it unharmed.
This is our resource to use but abuse can result in limited and reduced opportunities. We have seen this with scale bar in Hope and we will see it again if we don’t speak out against those who use illegal methods. Speak out against snaggers or people who abuse our resources.
Harrison
The Harrison River has slowed down considerably since the last heavy rains. Many of the Coho have moved out of the Harrison and into the tributaries streams and rivers. We did manage to find a few Coho on the weekend near the confluence but we really had to work for them. There is still some fresh Chum coming into the system, in fact we caught several that were chrome bars.
We would like to thank all the participants in our 8 annual Fly fishing seminars. It was great fun! We managed to hook into a few Coho on each day with our best day being 14 Coho on the fly. We haven’t got the pic’s back yet but once we do we will post them on our site.
Local Sloughs
Fishing for salmon has slowed considerably since the heavy rains of last week. You can still find fresh Coho on most of the rivers and sloughs but you’re going to have to work a bit harder to find them. The water levels are way up on Dewdney, Norish and other tributaries so the salmon have a lot more places to hide. Covering as much water as possible is going to be critical while levels stay high. I would suspect this to be the case for the remainder of the season.
