Fraser River
I wish I had some good news to give you but unfortunately I don’t. It all started last Friday with the cold weather front, snow levels dropped from 6000 feet to 2500 overnight. Trout aren’t really fond of those types of drastic weather changes so needless to say the fishing was poor. To make it worse, heavy rains began to deteriorate water conditions turning visibility from 10 feet to 0. Although the Fraser is dropping, according to the water level station at Prince George, the Fraser has risen 2.20 meters, which means that in 2 or 3 days that water will arrive in the Chilliwack/ Mission area.

Sturgeon
Sturgeon fishing was slow this past weekend due to the cold weather fronts. We cancelled most of our trips but did spend Saturday on the river with only a few fish to show for our efforts. The weather forecast for the later part of the week and this weekend is for warm sunny conditions so we might just see some positive changes. We have been anticipating the arrival of the Eulachons for the past week.
The good news is that the Eulachons don’t move up the river until the water rises so this should trigger a large migration upriver to the Mission area. Hopefully this will result in some good sturgeon fishing this weekend or at least by early next week.

Vedder
The Vedder River was completely blown out on Monday but is clearing quickly. If you’re not familiar with that term, blown out means unfishable. The river is up nearly 4 feet but visibility at Vedder crossing is 3 feet or better as I write this report. It’s going to be a difficult week to predict, water conditions can change from one hour to the next so I would recommend calling your local tackle store for an updated report before heading out.

Chehalis
The Chehalis River produced some nice fish this past weekend. Water conditions were perfect but again like all the other local rivers conditions deteriorated once the heavy rains came. This river will clear up quicker than most and fishes well once the water begins to drop so this might be the best river to fish this weekend.
Jensen Eggs, Spinners, wool ties and cured roe all work well at this time of year.

Harrison
The Harrison Lake area has produced some good fishing but the winds have been very difficult. I would expect fishing to improve over the next few days as the weather patterns and the winds become more favorable. Harrison River remains spotty fishing at best but could improve with the better weather.

Summer is approaching us fast, those looking to rent an RV or tent trailers should be making their plans now. Guidebc.com now offers Motorhome and Tent Trailer rentals in the Vancouver area and Cabin rentals on Bridge Lake near 100 Mile House. Please view our rentals at http://www.guidebc.com/coopersrec
