Got myself an early B-day present compliments of the UPS man on Sat. Picked up the Smarty Jr. Cost was $495 and so far worth every penny. It comes with 3 basic modes, 40hp, 70hp & 100hp. I input the 70hp tow mode and holy crap!!!!! The smarty jr is supposed to work without damaging your engine or tranny, in addition to no leaving an electronic footprint in the ECM for your dealer to find. You can also do somw tweaking: timing tire size adjustments and some others. Even supposed to pick up some feul economy too. But, I'm not trusting the overhead liar, going to do it the old fashioned way.

Chirp the tires ???? heh heh Most definitely. But at $350.00 a tire, I'd prefer to keep the rubber on the tires.

Mark, Anytime you open up a motor you will increase fuel economy. I learned this with big trucks running the same motors we run maybe a little bigger. Key is to drive them the same way and you did before and you will see a big difference. What happens if you drive it in a normal fashion the motor does not have to work as hard to do what you need it to do. On Dodge trucks the weak link is the drive train and transmissions are expensive. The Cummins can produce a lot of HP and torque and if you push the limits you WILL find the weak link.
Did you actually get numbers on MPG with the intake upgrade? MPG would be the only reason for me to go to aftermarket doodads...

I bought the intake & smarty for the added performance. I figured if I added additional fuel economy, then that was a bouns. No I never chechek if I gained economy by just the intake alone. I did notice better throttle responce and I can hear the turbo more.
Ya, the tranny & converter is definitely the weak link. Fortunately, there is a company that specializes in beefing them ap and using billet converters. They aren't bad price wise either.
Speaking of weak link, I noticed I have a bad u-joint in my front end. 50K miles
