Another person caught these a couple of weeks ago out of th epond by my place. The same guy caught another big one that was pushing 5lbs according to his scale. This big one made the 5 lber look small. The smaller bows in the pic are all about 12-13inches. That is the stocker size. The owner stocks 200 kilo of trout every saturday. He charges 10 euro for 5 stockers or 1 big one per rod. No license required because it is a private pond. If I were to fish in public waters I would need a license ($65 and 2 week class) plus pay to fish that area.

Healthy looking fish. Are they mostly all 'bows in the pond, or do they mix in some browns?

My brother-in-law is German, now living in the US, and has confirmed that fishing in Germany is expensive.

Nice fish.

This pond is a man made pond. It used to belog to the VFW. The curent owner stocks a mix of "Sibling" AKA Brook Trout and Bows. He puts in a few big ones every week along with the 12" stockers. There are also small yellow perch. The owner and one other person says there are Pike and Walleye in there also. I havn't tossed any big spoons, but night crawlers SUCK!!!!! Most fish a caught on grubs.

My wife has had pond (stocker) trout before. She said these trout are the best she has ever had. She said the taste so fresh you can taste clean water.

The big trout are called salmon trout because they have real deep red/orange meat. They are fed krill or small shrimp.

Two-week class, huh? That sucks. I get the need when people plan on toting rifles, but for fishing?

Eric,

You should be busy with other things, drink lots of beer and eat lots of sauerkraut. On second thought forget the sauerkraut, just drink lots of beer.

I heard that in order to fish a river or stream that one must rent/lease the section that they wish to fish from the land owner or caretaker. Any truth to that?

Yes, You have to have a lcense plus pay who owns or caretaker of that area. But with everything being ragulated the pressure on the water isn't that much.
