Thinking hard about picking up one of these.

I want a polymer framed carry gun and striker fired guns never appealed to me. I was checking one out at a local gun shop and it fits me perfectly. I'd like to shoot one, but none of the local ranges have any to rent.
Anyone know anything about these?

Why the aversion to striker fired guns?

I've never seen one, but I like the looks of them. As far as striker type guns goes, my guess is he doesn't like the trigger (force/travel length) and lack of decocker/safety.

Why the aversion to striker fired guns?
Trigger pull, travel and feel I suppose is the main reason. My all time favorite carry piece is a 1911 Govt. Second would be a S&W 5904 I had a long time ago.
Now I want a carry piece lighter than a full sized 1911 with more mag capacity and cheap enough that I'm not concered with getting it wet, dirty, dropped, or scratched I want to stick with a traditional double action pistol.
I'd buy a Sig P229 if they wern't so ridiculously expensive now. $869 for a pistol that's not a Kimber is wayyyy too much money.

Check out the Ruger P94 dc, much cheaper than the Sig 229, and is a decent piece, but not a polymer.

Look at a Springfield Armory EMP if you haven't already. This might fit your needs. Will probably also show you how overpriced Kimbers are in my opinion. Pistol choice is very personal, I think. If it doesn't feel right and point well, keep looking. Good luck.

Scratch the EMP, I missed the high capacity/double action part. That FNP-40 does look like a fine piece, especially the Made in USA part.
