Anybody going over there for the end of Halibut and opening of Chinooks? RonBob, how about you? Look me up if you are. Staying at the Coho RV Park, Red Dodge PU/camper, Blue NR Seahawk. My buddy has to work so we wont be there until Wed Afternoon. Marine weather forecast looks good so far.

We lost 2 nice Butts right at the boat on Saturday out of Olson's. Fish & Game said it was averaging 1 fish per boat. Fished Neah Bay in the afternoon for Rockfish. Fish & Game there had checked a few salmon with one about 30 lbs. You, your boat and everybody else has to be totally legal up there. I was checked by WDF&G a total of 3 times, (twice on the docks, once in the water) US Coast Guard once at the dock and Clallam county sheriff once on the water. The Sheriff's boat was an 18 foot hard bottom inflatable with a 115 Johnson. They said they got it cheap, courtesy of a British Columbia Duffel Bag Distributor. LOL

Whoa! I've never been checked over there. Guess I'll hafta be on my best behavior.

The fishchecker report does show about one Butt per boat, around 50% success per angler.

Say what? My Regs say Halibut is open from 5/21 through 7/3 in Area 5, Sekiu, with the usual Tues and Wed closure. So its open this coming Thurs and Fri according to the Regs unless there is an emergency closure??? I checked the WDFW website and I dont see an emergency closure for Area 5.

????

And Salmon is opening so there will be a couple of days that you can catch both.

My freezer is devoid of Halibut, ate up last summers supply. I am going to Ucluelet twice, might get some Butts there. But my neighbors want to have some Butts on the Barbee, so I need to get busy.
