El Salto new
      #373487 - 04/08/09 09:56 AM

Looks like I'm headed for Mazatlan this summer, and there's no way I'm going there without hitting up El Salto. Has anyone fished there, and if so, do you have any reccomendations for a day trip guide service? I've done minimal browsing but it seems most places want to do lodging and the whole nine. I'm already staying somewhere in Mazatlan, so I'm not looking for a package that includes an overnight stay. Thanks!

I've fished El Salto 5-6 times the last few years, goto my website and there's a contact for Mark Dissmore & fishing in Mazatlan Mexico on the front page.

Mark D can hook you up with Hono, who will pick up @ your resort/hotel in a van about 5:00 a.m., drive you to
El Salto, fish with one of his guides and return you back to town before dinner time!

Thanks RR! I just tried to check Escualo Fleet's website, and it doesn't appear to be working. I'll contact Mark directly from the email you have listed. Thanks again!

If you want to fish the blue water for Marlin, Sailfish & Dorado, Escualo Sports fishing fleet is it... http://escualosportfishing.com, for El Salto Bass, go to Hono's website @ www.basselsalto.com

For a "Gringo" fishing report contact Senoir Mark!

"Our staff is fully bilingual"

That statement is a major plus for fishermen. We always want to know where they are biting and what their biting on so you need to have a guide you can communicate with.

I can vouch for that. Last summer's trip down there we went out with one of the captains from the Escualo fleet. Here is a pic of my best fish for the day.

We caught several sailfish, several dorado, 2 tuna, and hooked one very nice marlin. My only complaint from the trip is that, as you can see from the pic we killed one sailfish (this was the first one we caught), captain didn't seem to comprende "catch and release" till we got on him after this fish, was fine the rest of the day. Seas were rough so I ended up chumming a bit, but it was a small price to pay. Still couldn't talk my father-in-law into El Salto though...maybe next time.
