I am confused. Wife wanted to suprise me with a Tag Huer watch ($630) then a $1400 (Formula 1 -indy 500 model) marked down to $660. Told her my watch was fine and I can build at least 3 good rods for that price. The wife asked "when are you going to use them?" I said when we go home and I have plenty of time o build them here. So get something I really don't need (yes very nice) and use the money she was WILLING to spend to have something I want.

Well you can never have tooooooo many fishing rods.
Just one warning, do what the wife says and build the rods anyway when shes not looking. It's worked for me over the last 24 years

or might i suggest purchasing some very quality reels. like upgrading to the Revo bait casters. this way the are easy to keep out of site if need be. plus you really can't break a reel. ask 3 Revo reels.

Found out that she was going to get the watch with money her dad left her. Very thoughtfull. But guess this...
Told her thanks but not practicle for me and she still throws it in my face.... "i was going to get you a watch but you didn't want it, that ship has sailed"

Brewer those shimano  reels aren't an option either. She will see the price and the money that came out of the bank. She already asks constantly "How many rods do you need?"
