What a monster, too bad no pic.

Can you imagine the fight from the previous record fish, a 40 pounder, on 4 lb test and an ultralight rod?

Are these anything like Mackinaws? When I was in McCall ID, I was talking to a guide who said those things live 20+ yrs and develop massive bellies. When you pick 'em up your hands disappear like you were holding up a soft catfish.
Apparently they fight like a soggy haybale. The state was considering issueing a warning because of high Mercury levels in these fish because they live so long.

Thanks for the article with the pic, Mike. Without the pic, it's just another fish tale!

W4F, I've caught a couple of those big Lake Michigan Browns,(though more like 20 than 41 lbs.} & they put up a pretty good fight!

I've also caught some Lake Michigan Mackinaw lakers & they're kinda scrappy, too.
