I was told at lunch that a friend of my dad was sighting in his new Thompson Contender pistol. He was having trouble holding steady and had the great idea of placing his hand on the barrel.
Pulls the trigger and blammo, the end of his index finger goes missing. I haven't confirmed if he simply shot it off.
I was old that he had his finger right next to the muzzle break and that's what did it.

Either way that's gotta HURT!!!

Stay thirsty my friends

Sometimes, you just gotta touch the stove to see if it's hot.

Bummer Mark, I once and I say only once had my hand too high on a semi-auto pistol only to have the slide come back and hit my most upper thumb nuckle...man that hurt. Ruined a perfectly good redneck shootem up day!

Yeah... Those ports in a muzzle brake let out a spurt of incandescent gas. He's damn lucky he didn't have the gas ports near the "family jewels", or he would have made a doe out of a buck!

Just an "FYI" - there's an awful lot of hot gas/flame that comes out between the cylinder and the barrel of revolvers, too! That's ANOTHER thing to be aware of!

"Beretta Bite" is what that's called Jon. Used to see it all the time on the range when newbies would take up pistol shooting. Usually only takes one time to figure out a more proper grip.
