Left this past Thursday evening to hit the west coast of Vancouver Island for some Salmon. Weather was GREAT! Fishing was decent. Could only keep hatchery coho and had to release nice big fat nates. Biggest Chinook was 26# and biggest Ho was 14#. It was my first ever trip on the Island and looking forward to going back.
Side note: The BC ferry ride is SPENDY!!!!!

Nice fish! Does the ferry charge by the foot, or is it a flat truck and trailor rate?

They be charging by the foot. We were right about 57 feet. Truck, boat & 4 bodies was $260ish. Coming back minus the boat was $145 for just my truck & passengers

Boat is a 27' Skagit Orca with twin 225 Honda's and a Honda 20HP kicker on a hyd bracket. It's a SWEET boat, but sadly it not be mine. It's my sweeties bro's boat. Definitely better than working. I needed a break before the men in the white coats came to take me away to the rubber room hotel

This week we paid 127 for 2 guys, 43 feet. Thats enuff but not near the screw job that the Edmonds/Kinston Ferry is. The Tssawassen Ferry ride is 2 hours or so and 50-60 miles. Edmonds/Kingston is 20 minutes, 5 miles or so and costs 72 bucks one way. Do the math.

I did that math a couple of times as well, thinking about future trips in the boat. Seems like you'd almost be better off just driving around the bottom of the island and up the outside...at least you could fish on the way, right?
