Is this the SAME Marine Stewardship Council that has put it's stamp of approval on the sales and consumption of wild, gillnet caught STEELHEAD because it's tribal caught and anything tribal caught "must" be sustainable so as to be politically correct????

Idiots....

I think the recent article posted on THE END OF FISH, is backed up by some of the information in the McDonalds article. I dont see this as an indictment of McDonalds, because the MSC make bad decisions.

Anything Tribal caught must be sustainable or various conservation organizations would try to shut them down wouldn't they?

no. Im not sure why you would try to compare McDonalds corporate responsibility efforts to the tribes. Maybe sending the article to the tribes would give them something to think about. Not all tribes act the same way.

My comment was in response to AuntyM's post. Any your right, not all tribes have gill nets in spawning rivers.

No, they wouldn't.

You seem to have trouble understanding the BOLDT decision, which gives treaty tribes the RIGHT to harvest 50% of the harvestable fish in their usual and accustomed fishing areas. So far, no group has been stupid enough to waste time, energy and money fighting an unwinnable battle. That doesn't mean I have to be BLIND to the effects tribal gillnets have on wild steelhead.

If tribes were using selective fishing methods and releasing wild fish, I think you'd still be pissed off though.

I understand the Boldt decision and I also understand that the non-tribal commercials are just as legal.

I'm pissed about anyone commercially fishing the rivers.

So you take cheap shots at groups trying to make sure you still have something to fish for???

If you have so much wisdom, tell us what CCA should be doing differently and how YOU would accomplish it.

I didn't read his post as taking a shot at the CCA. It's been well posted about for years now about how mainstream environmental/conservation groups won't attack tribal gill nets simply because that's not a "Green" message.

So sensitive and reactionary these days.

Maybe we need to start a thread on the LCR?

I think Trout was being sarcastic in the original post.

"Anything Tribal caught must be sustainable"

Totally obsurd statement, and he knows it.

You could. Or maybe you should just go over there and register, instead of being left out of important dialog. The rockfish thread is in need of another perspective. Yours.

Maybe your pride can't take it???

Hahaha... he's never been afraid of any of em. He's got a good reason but it's time to put that aside IMO. He's doing an injustice to the resource by staying away.

JG said it wouldn't be a problem if he came back. I inquired just in case.

LB you would find me more in agreement with those 3 than the opposition.

Figured so. Just the same I am serious about mostly agreeing with those 3 about the LCR. Personally I don't have the energy to join in that dog fight. I'll provide some insights from here as I see fit to. If people here want to have the same discussion I'll participate.
