So today class was cancelled and I headed-out yet again with my trusty selection of spinners and spoons. The water really looked good and I saw a few fish rolling here and there. All in all it was another nice day of fishing, not catching. Fine. I can deal with that. I was sort of meandering back when I heard a whacking sound that I quickly decided was not natural. Since it was coming from the direction of my truck I decided I better meander a little faster. I got across the river and was running (well, not really running. I stopped doing that years ago) as fast as I could in waders and spiked boots. A charcoal grey, regular cab, newer model F-150 with matching canopy was parked behind my truck and a dirt-bag loser piece of pooh was walking back to said truck with my fishing crap. At this point I was shouting a non-stop string of profanities that is most likely going to get me an extra 30-40 minutes of roasting in Hell. I couldn't see the license plate and my little cell phone camera was buried in my pack. Oh damn, and damn again for good measure. So if you run across a great deal on a BW Sports rod case or a Plano box of about fifty spoons (mostly BC Steel (gold and silver) and Rvrfshr(cooper and black) let me know. And the best part? My truck was broken into at the college last Friday and some inbred low-life took my Ipod, phone, and camera. -New mantra - nothing in the car Bret

I'm hearing lots of reports of break ins on Keys Road, wherever you were, and Shafer Park. Someone please get this POS's license number, or better yet, pull his plug!

Get a rope!
Time to sound the alarm to all my friends that fish the area. I will pass the vehicle description around and see what I can come up with.

That sucks. Thanks for the heads up on the truck description. There can't be too many that fit that description.

That's too bad but you have a good truck description and I hope you called this in? The local cops may know exactly who that is by the truck desription or least something for them to look for.

Dude, you need to call in the description of that truck. When we pulled out at the Chehalis launch at the mouth of the Satsop there was a cop there taking info because a truck got broken into and a rifle was stolen. Probably the same f-n loser.
We floated the lower Satsop yesterday and managed 3 dusky coho on bobber eggs and a dozen or so buck chums. Caught this one one a spoon when trying to get the coho to cooperate. All of the other chums were caught on corky/yarn combos.

I called it in. In fact there was a bit of confusion between Mason and Greys Harbor about juristiction so sherrifs from both counties were notified and took my statement. At this point, with both break-ins, I'm a little on the edgy side, but I think if I parked at the park in the morning and waited I would see the sob going to work in the morning. But then what? They need to be caught in the act. I thought there was a thread about Cowlitz break-ins and sherrifs using a bait car. The sherrif from Greys Harbor suggested getting to know some of the folks that live near the river and asking to park at their houses. I guess that's my plan. The fish are coming in, the river's my church, and I'm in the mood for a old-time revival!

You did catch them in the act. If you find them and can identify them, as long as you are willing to testify in court, that is usually sufficient to get them prosecuted and they will most likely enter a plea bargain. If you find them, call it in and wait for LE to show up and nail him.

What makes you think the dirtbag has a job? Hes either a regular thief or druggie. He could be miles from his crib.
Couple years ago, saw a truck next to the boat launch as I came in below the highway on the satsop. Woman got in. Antenna swaying back and forth. Oh the memories.... Oh, she headed towards Aberdeen. He lived in Satsop.

You can be a druggie and make payments on a new F-150. If I knew that I would have given-up carpentry long ago.

3:30 pm. Two guys. One on the smash and grab and one waiting in the drivers seat. Nice looking newer truck and both more on the clean-cut side.

What the #@&% drives doesn't mean much.
This event took place a couple of years ago and was completely played out on this site.
There was a number of vehicle break-ins at the High bridge launch on the Snoqualmie. I pulled in one day and interrupted a break-in in progress, the person heard me coming and as I pulled into the parking lot he raced past me sideways, but I did get a good look at the truck. I checked the vehicles in the lot and found he cut the fuel hose from a few trucks and there was still a siphon hose in one tank. On the ground there was some card board he put down to stay dry and it turned out there were some UPS address labels the card board.
I took the info to the sheriff's office in Monroe and can't say they were very interested until a detective overheard what I was saying when I mentioned the name on the label. He said the truck had been reported stolen the night before.
I put a description of the truck this site and within a couple of days the truck was found near Snohomish by a member. I was never able to get anymore info on it because it was an ongoing investigation.

Yeah well my truck was broken into in my driveway (for those of you not keeping count this will be the 5th time something on my property has been stolen in a year and a half) and this time I came out while it was in progress. I chased the guy also screaming profanities and he eventually turned around and threatened me with a gun. I backed off slowly, getting a real good look at him. When I was far enough away I ran into my house, grabbed the phone and some fire power of my own and ran back out. got down the street far enough to see him jump in and take off in a brand new white mitsubishi eclipse. I was on the phone with the cops before he was off my block. They showed up about a half an hour later. Far cry from the first time I caught some tweaker kids in my truck when the sherrifs caught the kids before I even pulled into my driveway from chasing them myself. I got all of them prosecuted and have a feeling their 'crew' or friends has been targeting me ever since. Bastards!

I drove around the Satsop today and noticed signs up for "Eyes in the woods Property Protection" at the lower ramps and at the park. Looked like they had a Fish and Wildlife logo on them. Anyone know if that means cameras?
So I know I should just get over this, it's just hard. Thanks guys.

Still unable to get over it I found myself parked at the Satsop parked up by Cook Creek. As luck would have it the truck I saw (or one exactly like it) drives by, and the chase was on. Not being a Mario Andretti type, he lost me on Satsop-Cloquallum Road, but not befor I got the plate. WA 92763Y. He also had two German Sheppards in the back. Called in the info to Greys Harbor sherrifs dept which ran the plate and it belonged to a S-10 out of Tacoma. They thought that I wrote it down wrong. There was also a rectanguler red and yellow sticker on the bumper. Looked like some sort of militery thing. This is much more interesting that school.

I have been on the lookout for that truck and if I see it I will surely get the plate #.
It's obviously a local. He won't be able to hide out forever.
I've never been broken into but I'm really worked up about this and since you have a good description of the truck I think it's only a matter of time before someone see's it and turns it in.

I talked to two guys today that mostly fish the Humptulips and the truck/guys/dogs description matches two guys they saw earlier this fall that they said were living out of a truck on the Hump'.

My understanding is that the plate was stolen off a blue S-10 in Tacoma.
So how's the fishing been?

Well if they are driving around with stolen plates that gives LE cause to bust them.

Fingers crossed on that one. I got a hold of one of the three Fish and Wildlife officers for the Humptulips and passed on the vehicle description. Didn't ring a bell with him. Also got a hold of a guy that runs security for Green Diamond. Tried to find his equivalent at Werehouser (I don't even know how to spell that).
