Question for Mojo new
      #388503 - 11/03/09 07:22 PM

Have you ever or ever heard of many people taking their boats up into the lower part of the southfork of the Boise river and hunting deer there??? All most thought about breaking the boat out on the last day, but would have been a pain to get it rigged back up to go out as I put it away for the winter. Thank you for all your info

Dude, there are 2 roads that runs along that part of the river. You can either hit the Slide Gulch Road (like I told you) and go up Grape Mountain or go in through Black's Creek toward Praire and hit the south side of the So. Fork. Parking your boat on the South Fork arm of Arrowrock and hiking up would kill you. I used to do that when I was in my 20's. Now at 46 with a bad back, I won't even think about it.

Kinda what I was thinking, but you seem to have a ton of knowledge about this area and I really appreciate your input. But if you park your boat in the right spot and shoot the deer high enuff he will roll down right into your boat...ha ha ha ya right

Not too sure a boat strike by a kamikaze deer is a good idea?

I hunted the hell out of that area before the fire. It used to be some of the best deer hunting in the state. It is a lot more barren these days. THere are still deer there, but a lot less cover. It is still just as steep as it used to be, maybe steeper.
