Ultra-light Trout Rod new
      #40188 - 12/26/01 05:27 AM

Bring on the cutties! I tied up a Pac Bay 7', 4wt flyrod blank into an ultra-light spinning rod yesterday, and it looks sweet! I used the "Tennessee" style solid cork handle, and graphite slip rings, Pac Bay TiCH guides (beautiful gunmetal grey color), and wrapped it in red with grey trim bands. I didn't use color preserver, and the wraps darkened to match the blank beautifully. I've got it set up with a Quantum Micro that holds 125 yds of 4lb test...

That's going to be a nice cuttie rod Greg! You should buy a cheap little fly reel and try fly fishing. If you can get your line out into the water then you can catch a cutthroat on a flyrod. My favorite rod that I built is a 6'6" 2wt Pac-bay. The blank is green and I put gold guides and a gold reel seat on it. It's the cutest little rod there is. I've also got an 8'6" 2wt Sage XP. This rod will cast better because of it's length, but it doesn't have the good looks of the shorter one. I've landed a couple of 10lb trout on that Sage. The Pac-bay took on some pinks this year and I landed 4 of them on it. Little rods sure are great .

Greg
I knew it was going to look sweet. I really like mine, but it has a wood insert handle.
Let me know when your ready to get the 1025 ordered up. Don't want to break the bank.

On the subject of rods, do you still have those GL3 flyrod blanks? I think one of those built into a spinning rod would be murder on summerruns. Let me know the damage on the 1025 and parts, and I should be able to swing it by the first of the month. (Unless I buy that sled I was looking at the other day... ) Thanks Bud!

Not sure on the damage on the rod. I had to order a different style of guide to get you the Tich finish. I sent it off today along with some other rods kits.

I do still have a couple of the fly rods. I sold one off on ebay another to Oregon. Still sitting on some spey rods I couldn't pass up.

Also picked up a couple 1086 blanks look like they will be a sweet drifter too. Was trying to get a salmon blank and they aren't heavy enough for that...bummer

need to get a couple quality reams made so I can get to work.
