I picked up a U-15 reel seat at a great price with the full wells grip off E-bay.I was planning on using it on a 10ft 8wt blank and, when finished, matching it with my Redington AS 9/10 reel.I had never seen this model until yesterday and was surprised at how thin it is.I was concerned that it would not be strong enough for my reel(even though it fits) and was debating whether to get a smaller reel(7/8) or a larger reel seat.I don't want to do either really so I was wondering if anyone has used this model on their rods and what they are like? Will it be okay on an 8wt or is this seat meant for lighter rods? How strong are they?I was originally concerned as I didn't expect them to have such a slim profile.

AD, sorry to take so long to find an answer for you. According to my Struble catalog, the U-15 is listed as a "Small diameter all metal seat designed for saltwater use" By this I would assume that as long as your reel seat fits, it will be OK, since the 8 wt. is the usual minimum that is used for saltwater. The inside diameter if the seat may limit your blank choices, though, as it is only .500" ID. Should be fine, Struble makes a great product.
