Hit the beach today
      #40994 - 12/22/01 09:48 PM

With the big winter storm aftermath I went rocking at the beach. Found some really nice agates and a couple dandy fossils(petrafied clams, seaweed) from the slides.
Also found some rocks with beautiful fire red color laced into them. Time to polish

Marty,
We too went to the beach this week as the tides were good and the rivers were bad. Found some nice specimens of snails(with shell on even) clams and of course lots and lots of neat rocks to add to the "weight-bearing exercise" we always take part in on such excursions. Maybe we will run into each other on the beach someday.

Talked to my rocking buddy and he told me to bring some rocks over to cut. Should be a fun to see how the bigger river bank rocks look after cutting.

I asked him about polishing and he said keep them wet, polish or spray with a varnish to make them shine.

Was out again today..this time on the deep creek beach. Then on to the beach in front of Clallam bay coast guard. That beach is pretty impressive with all the smaller sized rocks....hard to walk its so deep in pebbles. Lots of good picking too [Smile] . Gonna need more grit to polish the loot.
Silver if you see a me say hello I am usually wearing one of my hats [Smile] .

Marty,
We haven't been out but it sounds like you found some nice stuff...We also love that stretch by the coast gaurd at clallam bay. we got a nice scallop ther still with complete half shell in a rock, pretty kool catch. I'm sure we will encounter each other sooner or later.
Plug, my nephew, said he may be over soon to chase some steelhead on the lower Hoh. Maybe we will see ya then..
Good Pickin'
