Has anybody built these rods? Prices for the blanks not much different worried about the color of the RX8 titanium chrome, Is it a bright color? I like the darker rods. Will be used side drifting eggs from a boat mostly. How long should i build the rear grip?

The 1142 is an ideal sidedrifter. The XST is by far the lightest blank on the market and super sensitive. The color of the blank is exactly that, "titanium". Its kind of a shiny gunsmoke color, not bright in color by any means IMO. I personally am all for XST over IST. As far as the rear grip goes, go with the 12in. and reel seat should be threads down making your overall length from reel to butt cap around 14in. I've built a ton of XST's and IST's over the years. IST's will be more forgiving than XST's in the end.
