Buuuggggsssss! new

I've got a baja bug that I haven't taken off-road yet. I made my dad's cow pasture all muddy driving around there, but I haven't made it up to the trails due to having no brakes. It's a 1969 beetle with a 1776 motor. It's got 31x10.50 tires on it so it's not a weak bug. I've jumped it a couple of times of my bro's quad jump. It seemed to handle it fine, but I prefer not to thrash my vehicles so I probably won't be jumping anymore. Once my dad gets some time to help me fix the brakes (hopefully this weekend) I plan on going up in the mud.

What color is it maybe I owned it before [Smile] . Had a brown one, couple blue ones, red and a orange. I was a bug fanatic before the world of toyota dependablity exposed itself to me.

The orange one had some really cool custom stainless interior work done. Diamond tuck leather bucket seats, trick paint job.

My favorite colored one was the brown with gold metal flakes in it. Dang that was pretty when it was clean.

I hated adjusting the valves constantly...blech!!

We had a white one (67) and a blue one (68)

Dr. P, if you haven't tried running mud holes yet, you're in for some fun! That bug will skim right across a good size mud hole that jeeps and other 4X's just sink and die in.

Have you ever been out to Tahuya? When my son gets home from his latest run, (trucker) I will have him contact you and give you some good info on what his group does. They make fun runs all over the Northwest.

Mine is red, but the doors and stuff is white. It looks pretty good. It could be painted, but then I would worry about it getting scratched so it will probably be left the way it is for paint. I bought it in Issaquah from a young guy. Doesn't sound like you owned it judging by the color. I was just out driving it around. There is a field nearby that everyone uses for horses and quad riding so I had to go buzz around there. Then I came home and rode in our cow pasture. I've got a good mud pit going. Aunty it really does seem to glide across the mud if you hit it fast. I had the window down and mud came through the window and hit me. Sure is a fun car for $800.

Aunty I'm not aware of this group your son is in. I'd like to find a local group of baja bugs. About 4 years ago while I was motorcycle riding I remember seeing a group of about 10 bugs out on some trails. Seemed like fun to me!
