Slab Camp Rd new
      #43016 - 01/10/02 05:57 AM

Go up Taylor Cut-off Rd (by the Dungeness River bridge on 101) and drive up quite a few miles. It will turn into Lost Mountain rd and you continue driving. Approximately 4 miles? up after it turns into Lost mtn on your left will be a gravel road called Slab Camp Rd. Once you get there you can go exploring. I go shooting up there in a big gravel pit.....so don't forget to bring a gun and have some fun shooting. I'm pretty sure that you can drive around up there and end up in Blyn, but I've never done it. Once my bug is going I'll be able to tell you more.

Heck why go to Blyn when it will take you clear to Quillcene? Lots of wilderness to enjoy up there. Just make sure you treat it like it was your back yard. I say that meaning don't destroy it!

I have done that journey and showed up down by Lake Leland. Lots of backwoods roads up that way.

Bux Brings up a excellent point as we lose more and more acess roads due to disrespectful folks leaving trash or destroying things just because nobody is around. Somebody has to replace or repair this stuff and it is usually with a really big GATE and a LOCK. Some of my favorite fishing holes are now behind locked gates and miles from the gate to boot...Ugh
Have fun but be respectful.

Yeah up on burnt hill they gated off the good place to go. If you are lucky and the gate is open you will eventually run into big deep trenches that try to keep people out. They did this after they had the 4x4 egg hunt and some people destroyed a wetland or something. You can still get into some good places on a motorcycle or a quad. I thought you could get to Quilcene, but I wasn't too sure so I figured I'd better not post it.
